perfect for data storytelling.

What differentiates Tableau from other similar products?

It's an improvement over powerpoint as the data is live and you can answer questions during a meeting. it’s the best because you can click on a piece of data, and then filter down the entire page to see what was happening that would have triggered this problem. it transforms a dull presentation into a conversation with the data and that’s much better for our senior team. it makes everyone a lot more connected to the actual figures.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

the ‘story’ feature i also enjoy – so you can make a walk through of your findings just step by step. It’s beneficial for explaining large trends to folks who aren’t that data savvy. it is also really impressive, the way it deals with Time series data and Forecasting. I can do future trend potential based on historical numbers in just a few clicks. it gives me sound bites in our planning meetings that makes me look like a genius so i will take it.

What do you dislike most about this product?

is annoying that something as simple as changing a font size across all sheets cannot be done more easily. you seem to have to go into each worksheet and tinker with the tiny styling which is annoying.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

if you want rock and tell a clear story, tableau wins. it is a pro tool for smes and data professionals.
