Visualize Data with Tableau

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates Tableau from other similar products?

I love the flexibility when it comes to dashboard design. Other tools I've used in the past aren't nearly as flexible. The UI is also simple and easy to navigate, big fan of that because tools like this tend to get complicated for both analysts and end users of the data. Lastly the folder and dashboard management is great. Easy to setup security / permissions via folders and give people access to what they need.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The flexibility to create dashboards and visualizations that you want. You can get real fancy with buttons, actions, to pop windows in and out, dynamically change colors, etc. If you can think of it, very likely there is a way to make it happen (though it'll take effort to make that happen, and remember you'll have to manage these customizations should they break).

What do you dislike most about this product?

What I dislike is similar to what I love, but slightly different. Tableau offers so much flexibility and customizations that it can seem daunting to create a dashboard. Constantly running into things I'd like to do, but it isn't intuitive, so you need to Google how others accomplished the same thing. Overall, flexible platform, but not intuitive and may take a dedicated resource to manage / build out.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Enterprise Data Management and Visualization Tools

Likeliness to Recommend

10 /10

What differentiates Tableau from other similar products?

Their licensing price was much more manageable than any others we looked at, and provided all the features we needed to solve the problems we were facing at the time. Tableau's development support is more than sufficient. The broad scope of the software is its most outstanding feature.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

As a natural language makes the experience of using Tableau much more dynamic, I think for any organization, having a natural language makes the information that ends up resulting in the data much more valuable and effective in understanding each result that you generate in Tableau, which is one of our favorite features. Having the ability to centrally build a reporting session with rules imposed by the report creator has proven to be quite useful at times, allowing us to ensure that critical information was shared with the entire team and that no authorized person altered the published information.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The product has a long learning curve, and there is not much support material to help new users in the transition.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Thanks to Tableau, we have been able to learn about key aspects of our business that would have eluded us before. We have had far fewer problems thanks to the management provided by Tableau and, as a result, the performance and production of our company has improved. Personnel and revenue issues that we would not have realized have been resolved. We can't fail to mention the improvement in business-level data that has resulted from using Tableau's capabilities.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Continually Improving Product
  • Reliable
  • Trustworthy
