What differentiates Nutanix Cloud Manager from other similar products?
Its unified dashboard for multicloud is what made us switch from vSphere—having AWS, Azure, and our private cloud in a single view saves the team about 15 hours per week. The automation of HIPAA and SOC2 compliance checks is another huge differentiator (at VMware, we needed three additional tools for this). However, the learning curve is steep in the first few months—we had to hire external consultants for the initial migration
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Drag-and-drop capacity planning. When we had to scale our infrastructure for Black Friday, moving loads between clusters was as easy as dragging icons. AIOps for anomaly detection has also prevented disasters—last week, it alerted us to a memory leak in our Kubernetes containers six hours before they crashed. Be careful, though: email alerts arrive with a delay; it's better to configure Slack alerts
What do you dislike most about this product?
The documentation is outdated in critical areas—last month we lost half a day because the steps for integrating ServiceNow differed from the manual. Premium support responds quickly, but sometimes escalates cases that should be resolved in Level 1. And be careful with updates: 5.20 temporarily broke our bare metal provisioning API until the patch was released
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you manage complex hybrid infrastructure (more than three clouds), it's worth every dollar. But start with the Professional plan, which includes certified training—it took our team three months to master advanced features. Negotiate the price hard: we got a 30% discount with a three-year commitment. And do thorough PoCs: in our case, the cost analytics module didn't work well with our legacy systems until version 5.18
