Quality should be at the core of what we do and is often overlooked. The worst part of the experience was walking away and not having a clear plan for taking action on our learnings. We needed a mechanism to engage all stakeholders and develop a common vision and direction for our DevOps initiative. It was far more effective to have this led by a third party. They brought outside knowledge and experience we do not yet have, and are an objective party as opposed to those of us in the organization who may have a vested interest in seeing activities steered in a particular direction. The workshop achieved what we wanted it to which was broad engagement, and 'guidance' which helped us develop a common vision and direction with directed next steps we should take to execute our plan.
