What differentiates Google Chat from other similar products?

Gmail Integration: Google Chat is integrated directly within Gmail, allowing users to chat and collaborate without leaving their email interface. This provides an efficient workflow between email and real-time communication. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides: It integrates smoothly with Google’s productivity apps, allowing users to share, edit, and comment on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations within the chat interface. Google Meet: Video calls can be initiated directly from Google Chat, connecting users to Google Meet for instant collaboration.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

One of my favorite aspects of Google Chat is its seamless integration with the Google Workspace ecosystem. This allows for efficient collaboration by linking conversations directly to productivity tools like Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, along with Gmail and Google Calendar. The ability to work on shared documents, schedule meetings, and have real-time discussions—all without leaving the platform—makes workflows incredibly smooth and connected.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Fewer Third-Party Integrations: While Google Chat integrates well with Google Workspace apps, it offers fewer integrations with popular third-party tools and services. Slack, in contrast, supports thousands of integrations, making it more adaptable to diverse workflows. Lack of Threading in Group Chats: While Google Chat supports inline replies, its handling of threaded conversations can feel less intuitive compared to platforms like Slack, which organize threads more effectively, especially in busy or large group chats.
