Fast, Flexible, and Insightful Observability

Likeliness to Recommend

10 /10

What differentiates Elastic Observability from other similar products?

Elastic Observability differentiates itself by unifying logs, metrics, and traces into a single platform built on the power of Elasticsearch, enabling fast, scalable search and analytics across vast data volumes. Its open and flexible architecture allows integration with diverse environments while offering real-time monitoring and anomaly detection. With machine learning, visualization, and dashboards, it transforms raw telemetry into actionable insights for proactive operations.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of this product is the speed and flexibility it offers through Elasticsearch, allowing lightning-fast searches and analytics across massive amounts of logs, metrics, and traces. This makes troubleshooting far more efficient, as data from different sources can be correlated in one place. The customizable dashboards and machine learning features add even more value by turning complex telemetry into clear, actionable insights.

What do you dislike most about this product?

What I dislike most is that managing large-scale deployments can become complex and may require significant expertise to optimize.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I’d recommend clearly defining your observability goals before setup to avoid unnecessary complexity, and start small by focusing on critical logs, metrics, and traces first. Take advantage of its visualization and machine learning features for faster insights, and ensure your team is trained in optimizing Elasticsearch performance. Also, plan for scaling early, since large data volumes can quickly impact cost and infrastructure.

Powerful Search & Observability tool

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates Elastic Observability from other similar products?

Elastic Observability is awesome because it’s an all-in-one tool for keeping an eye on your system—logs, metrics, and app performance in one spot. It uses Elasticsearch to crunch tons of data fast, so you get real-time updates. It’s really flexible, with lots of integrations for stuff like Kubernetes, AWS, or even your own apps, letting you customize it your way. Plus, it’s got plenty of tailored features to make monitoring easier.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite thing about Elastic Observability is how it brings everything together in one place—logs, metrics, and app performance. It’s like having a single dashboard that gives you a clear, real-time view of your entire system, which makes spotting and fixing issues so much easier.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Elasticsearch can be tough to manage because it’s so complex. Setting up shards, replicas, and JVM settings is very complex, especially with big data. There aren’t enough clear guides, so you end up figuring it out through trial and error. Plus, it eats up CPU and memory, which can get expensive fast if you’re not careful.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

1. Monitor Resource Usage: Elasticsearch can be a resource hog, spiking CPU and memory. Set up monitoring early and optimize your cluster to keep costs in check, especially if you’re self-hosting. 2. Invest in Training: Get your team trained on Elasticsearch basics and performance tuning. It’ll save you headaches when scaling or troubleshooting.
