Powerful All-in-One API Tool with Strong Collab.
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Postman from other similar products?
Postman differentiates itself from other API tools by being a comprehensive, all-in-one platform that covers the entire API lifecycle, including design, testing, automation, mocking, monitoring, and documentation. Unlike competitors such as Swagger, which primarily focus on API design and documentation, or Insomnia and Hoppscotch, which are more specialized for testing, Postman provides an integrated environment that supports both individual developers and large teams. Its collaboration features—workspaces, collections, version control, and role-based access—allow multiple developers, QA, and product teams to work seamlessly together.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect of Postman is its all-in-one API workflow combined with team collaboration.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The aspect of Postman that many users—and I would highlight—is its heaviness and occasional performance lag, especially with large collections or complex workspaces. The app can feel bloated, consuming significant memory and sometimes slowing down workflows. Another common frustration is that some advanced features are locked behind paid tiers, so if you rely on mocks, monitoring, or collaboration at scale, the free version can feel limiting. Lastly, while it supports versioning, its conflict resolution isn’t as seamless as Git-style branching, which can be tricky in large teams.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you’re considering Postman, it’s important to first assess your needs, as it excels in API development, testing, automation, and team collaboration, but may be overkill for simple API calls. Starting with the free plan is a good way to explore its core features like collections, environments, and basic collaboration before committing to a paid tier. For teams, upgrading to Professional or Enterprise unlocks advanced workspaces, role-based access, and monitoring, which can greatly improve productivity.

I'd highly recommend to people who are thinking about using Postman, go for it especially if you're working with APIs. It’s easy to learn and helps you test and fix things quickly.
