What differentiates Arcserve Unified Data Protection from other similar products?
Ease of use, and a familiar user interface.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The fact that it just works. Also, the ability to mount backups from a point in time as a new drive, and pick specific files out to be copied is a real benefit.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The price. It's quite expensive, especially for server Operating Systems.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If it fits your budget, then go for it. It's a quality product.

Excellent products but lacks in DBs agent backups

What differentiates Arcserve Unified Data Protection from other similar products?
Ease of backups, replication side of the software is excellent. Backup and restore good for Virtual Machine restores and File restores, but lacks in features and functionality when it comes to Linux backups and applications that requires agent type backup and restore for granularity, for example, MSSQL. Incremental backups converted/merged to be always Full Backup saves on storage and improves performance.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Ability to backups VMware Virtual Machines using VMware Tags is an excellent feature.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Configuring pre and post backup scripts is daunting.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you want a backup that provides many functions, where de-duplication is important and that has the functionality to Replicate off site or into the cloud then you should consider ArcServe.
