It's a poorly kept secret that dogs are generally more accurate in making initial diagnoses of the early stages of human disease, and early diagnosis saves lives. Here's the short summary: olfaction is much more complex than you can imagine. Today, the race is on to create artificial (electronic) noses that can match dogs’ noses. But so far, artificial noses have become almost as good at best, but cannot yet match or exceed them.
