What is Selenium?
Selenium automates browsers. That's it! What you do with that power is entirely up to you. Primarily it is for automating web applications for testing purposes, but is certainly not limited to just that. Boring web-based administration tasks can (and should) also be automated as well.

One could truly argue that its simplicity and ease of use are its main selling points. Any browser may be used to automate all interactions.

What differentiates Selenium from other similar products?
Being an open-source, language-agnostic, and highly flexible tool, letting us automate web browsers in many programming languages, Selenium makes it apart from other conventional tools. Moreover, it promotes agile workflows and fits perfectly into our CI/CD pipeline.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I love how it helps me keep all of my test cases, runs, and results under one roof, which ultimately gives me clear visibility into execution status and test coverage. It has reduced manual work effortlessly while also improving test accuracy. Along with this, it has enabled me to quickly reuse and improve test cases without duplication.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Sometimes, the frequency of maintenance effort for large or frequently changing applications increases unknowingly.

Powerful Testing Tool
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Selenium from other similar products?
Selenium is different because it’s free, supports many languages and browsers, and has a huge community. It gives you more flexibility than most paid tools, even if it takes more effort to set up.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect of Selenium is how flexible it is. I can use different programming languages, run tests on any browser, and integrate it with many frameworks. This makes it easy to fit into almost any project and gives me a lot of control over how I build my tests.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The thing I dislike most about Selenium is the flakiness. Tests can randomly fail because of timing issues, browser driver problems, or small UI changes. Setting up and maintaining a stable test suite often takes a lot of extra effort compared to newer automation tools.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you’re considering Selenium, be ready to spend time on setup and test stability. Use a good framework from the start, and add tools for reporting and maintenance. It’s great once everything is in place.
