What differentiates Microsoft Sharepoint from other similar products?

SharePoint is the new world for collaboration and sharing folders and documents with a company and with external clients and people. It is totally different from old other similar products and systems. It helps all the administrations, employees and clients to communicate and share all necessary things to finish their tasks and work in a easy way without facing any issue. SharePoint system uses Microsoft Cloud data centres. Does not need dedicated onsite hardware. It can be accessible using any device connected to the internet from anywhere in the world !

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Personally, I have some points that I would like to add them as a favorite aspects for SharePoint: 1- File storage in Microsoft OneDrive in the cloud. 2- External sharing between users within and external to your company. 3- Team websites that serve as a virtual bulletin board, calendar, and filing cabinet for all your messages, content, and data. 4- Mobile apps that give you on-the-go access whether you’re on Windows, iOS, Android, or any other digital device. 5- Smart search and query tools that help you find what you need when you need it. 6- Synchronize SharePoint online content with the Microsoft OneDrive on both Macs and Pcs.

What do you dislike most about this product?

1- SharePoint does have some out-of-the-box functionality. And you can build useful things with just those functions. But if you want features that meet the needs of your company, you'll need to work with a developer. That's one of my SharePoint's dislikes. 2- SharePoint search field is one of the biggest limitations of SharePoint, and it’s worth keeping in mind. If you try to search for a specific thing , it shows you a lot of things same time and you get confused most of the time because the key works or topics are really similar to each others.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

For me personally, I would recommend it. The ability to collaborate on files at the same time has been a big win for me and my team. We can now work on a project and divide and conquer. However, SharePoint is such a huge platform that if you don’t know where you’re going with it in the future, you’re not going to go anywhere. Tip #1: Consider your goals Tip #2: Take a look at your business processes Tip #3: Provide end user training If you are a Microsoft fan and an expert user with M365/O365, then SharePoint it is a good software for integration and share data and information between all people around the world!

Pros

  • Enables Productivity
  • Trustworthy

What differentiates Microsoft Sharepoint from other similar products?

Microsoft SharePoint stands out from other similar products due to its seamless integration within the broader Microsoft ecosystem. Its ability to effortlessly work with essential tools like Microsoft Teams, email, and other Office applications provides a cohesive digital workspace for organizations.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The ability to share essential information effortlessly across different departments enhances collaboration and streamlines our daily operations. What sets SharePoint apart is its adaptability; the platform offers numerous customization options, allowing us to tailor it to our specific needs. This flexibility extends to its integration with core Office apps, Microsoft Teams, and email.

What do you dislike most about this product?

A drawback for me with Microsoft SharePoint is the complexity around user administration. In a smaller company like ours, where IT resources are limited and often outsourced on an hourly basis, managing user roles became a challenge. The blurred lines between IT and content administration made it harder to streamline these tasks efficiently. Additionally, the inconsistent use of terms like 'page,' 'site,' and 'subsite' created confusion that took some time to untangle.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Make sure you allow for sufficient time for the initial setup, especially when configuring user permissions. While this process can be time-consuming, it's crucial for a smoother experience down the line. Seeking technical support during this phase can also save time and ensure proper configuration. If plan on utilizing advanced features like PowerAutomate, be prepared to invest some time in getting acquainted with its functionalities. While powerful, it might initially seem complex.
