Simple backend-as-a-service for a decent price

What differentiates Caspio from other similar products?
Evaluated many products before choosing this one. It's a cloud-hosted database backend, with form wizards and automation features. We used it to jerry-rig an ERP system for a fraction of the cost of NetSuite or SAP.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The visual automation algorithm builder is pretty innovative. It does have some limitations, though; I'd like to see it expanded, or to include custom SQL blocks for more sophisticated queries.
What do you dislike most about this product?
It is monstrously difficult to customize. I would say the great majority of my time in Caspio has been writing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to get the pages to look and interact the way we need them to. The 'styles' functionality is very limited, and it's quite tough to learn their conventions on how to create selectors for the right elements.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Put someone in charge who is competent with front-end programming and database management. The backend provided is decent and will do the job in most cases- which is good, as it is not customizable. The learning curve is pretty steep, but if you need to know how to do something specific, the support staff is very helpful and will find you a solution in a couple of days (or at least a work-around).
Pros
- Caring
- Respectful
- Acts with Integrity
- Continually Improving Product
Cons
- Under Delivered

Caspio: My Secret Weapon as a Parts Manager
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Caspio from other similar products?
Ease of use, logical system.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Ease of use. Ability to create apps quickly and efficiently.
What do you dislike most about this product?
When working with custom HTML, CSS, or JavaScript, the code editor could really benefit from syntax highlighting or colour coding. This would make it much easier to read and debug, especially for those who aren’t experienced developers. The current plain-text editor makes it harder to catch small mistakes.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
As you learn how to use it, you want to just create applications and push and see what else you can do.
Pros
- Continually Improving Product
- Effective Service
- Reliable
- Performance Enhancing
Cons
- Charges for Enhancements

Great Support and Usability

What differentiates Caspio from other similar products?
One of the standout features we leveraged in Caspio was its ability to create a structured database of related tables. We were able to organize and store detailed information on individual units, linking technical specifications, service history, and images within a clean relational database model.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
We chose Caspio after planning our forms in Excel, and transferring the structure over was relatively smooth—especially with the help of Caspio’s excellent technical support. The individual training sessions were incredibly helpful during the setup phase and made the learning curve more manageable, even for someone who hadn’t done any coding in a while.
What do you dislike most about this product?
One major drawback has been the training resources. While the training sessions themselves are informative and helpful, I was disappointed that there’s no option to download the individual sessions for offline reference. Even more frustrating, the links to those sessions were removed after some time, making it difficult to revisit key content when I needed a refresher. For a platform that emphasizes learning and user empowerment, this felt like a missed opportunity.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
One key recommendation is to make sure you have at least one person on your team with a technical background. While Caspio is a low-code platform and many features are user-friendly, building more complex formulas, managing data relationships, and troubleshooting issues will be much easier with someone comfortable navigating logical structures and system design.

- Helps Innovate
- Continually Improving Product
