What differentiates Appian Low-Code Automation from other similar products?
I have worked on Boomi low code platform as well there we can use many services like integration, mdh, flow etc. but if i will compare it with appian then appian is better as it provides the frontend and backend support in the same package we can integrate directly with any third party system, and it carries some code also where we can change functionalities accordingly but in boomi most things are predefined.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Unified environment and response UX, as it allows for building and testing of the applications upto 20 times faster than other coding methods. It brings together all the services like RPA, data fabric and UX design that actually reduces the time to connect with multiple tools separately for different services.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The main dislike is the cost estimation because appian license is bit expensive otherwise all services are good.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
I will recommend other users as well to use the Appian, as it is less complex to use and easy to integrate with other systems. Appian also provides backend and front-end together access to an application that reduces the time complexity to manage the services independently.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Reliable
- Enables Productivity

What differentiates Appian Low-Code Automation from other similar products?
Appian differentiates itself by combining powerful low-code development with a deep focus on intelligent process automation and case management. Unlike some competitors, it offers a unified platform for building complex, enterprise-grade applications that orchestrate people, bots (RPA), and AI. Its strong business process management (BPM) roots ensure robust workflow capabilities, while the data fabric unifies disparate data sources without migration. This comprehensive approach, tailored for sophisticated organizational needs, sets Appian apart.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect of Appian Low-Code Automation is its unified data fabric. This feature is a game-changer because it allows developers to seamlessly integrate and access data from diverse, existing enterprise systems without needing to migrate it. This not only dramatically accelerates development time but also ensures data consistency and accuracy across applications. It empowers organizations to leverage their current data investments effectively, enabling smarter automation and informed decision-making without the usual integration headaches.
What do you dislike most about this product?
What I dislike most about Appian Low-Code Automation is its steep learning curve for truly advanced customization and optimization. While the low-code aspect accelerates initial development, leveraging Appian's full power for complex enterprise solutions often requires a deeper understanding of its intricate architecture, specific expression language, and best practices. This can make it challenging for citizen developers to move beyond basic applications without significant training or specialized support, potentially increasing reliance on experienced Appian developers for more sophisticated use cases.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
For someone considering Appian, I'd strongly recommend: Define your use case clearly: Appian excels in complex process automation and case management. Understand if your needs align with these strengths for maximum ROI. Factor in training: While low-code, mastering its full capabilities requires dedicated learning. Invest in proper training for your team. Engage with sales early: Pricing isn't transparent online, so initiate discussions to understand the cost structure based on your specific user and application needs. Explore the Community Edition: It's a great way to "kick the tires" and get a feel for the platform before committing.
