Canada.com: Masonic Temple in Toronto now belongs to an IT firm

Toronto’s legendary Masonic Temple, most recently the home of MTV Canada, has now been purchased for $12.5-million by the London, Ont.-based company Info-Tech Research Group — whose announcement indicated it “plans to keep the music alive.”

Info-Tech chief Joel McLean said that the 16-year-old IT research and advisory firm plans to maintain the storied 888 Yonge St. concert hall that provided the main public function for the building from the late-1960s through the late-1990s.

The main 1,200-capacity auditorium will generally serve as an open area for the research group — even though McLean is eager to use it for an annual charity rock concert, too.
